The forgiveness she has is not for his benefit, it is for her grandson's benefit. I believe she said that she has told him about what happened to him and his mother. It would be difficult for her to harbor hatred and anger in her heart for Rae and that not affect her grandson in some way. He has enough physical and mental challenges to deal with already. She can't let him see her hate Rae because her grandson is part of Rae.
