NVM. I forgot it's true in the comics as well.
Although I have to say most characters in this movie act pretty off-character.
This is a pretty dark take on the lore IMO.
Thanagarians and Rannians are pretty bloodthirsty.
John is the shell-shocked noob who doesn't want the ring.
John's story is mostly Kyle Rayner's.
No redemption for Hal, who gets killed by his best friend Green Arrow.
Adam Strange is scarred and traumatized.
Sardath is evil.
Green Arrow is way too knowledgeable here IMO.
Sinestro has major JL enemies like Kanjar Ro and Despero working as Henchmen and only he and another got Yellow rings.
Sinestro works for Hal-as-Parallax.
Hawgirl is a bytch.
The league is already in place with Vixen as a member, but never met Adam Strange or Hawkgirl.
Sinestro dies a cheap, lame ass death.
I saw it like a week ago it wasn't that bad I thought hal would survive the parallax entity I'm not buying he's dead he lived through it in the comics
Secondly I don't understand why John was so hesitant to take the ring all through the movie he's bytching about not wanting it. I'm like fukk being pious I'm gonna have some fun with this shyt
I notice they also sowing the seeds of him and hawkgirl
You couldn't give a ring like that to me once I find out how it worked it would be fukking lit!!!
I call John in this movie "the CW lantern" because he was hiding the costume under a trenchcoat the entire movie and was mostly punching people, sometimes using the ring with low level effects
Refreshing to see a DC animated movie that's not about the same 3 characters for once. That said... while the plot was efficient and well-paced, it wasn't that interesting imo. I'd even say it was too focused on the plot and not enough on Stewart's personal journey/introspection.
The banter between Stewart/Ollie/Shayera was when the movie was at it's best... but halfway through that took a backseat to these shoehorned subplots for the sake of the greater plot (Ollie/Hal bromance, and Adam Strange's "return" + half baked daughter/wife situation).
Those (meh) moments should've been repurposed for Stewart /Shayera development, with a focus on John's PTSD. Should've had a different villain or plot that would've fit more seamlessly with that. You can't have Marie and Shayera in an animated John Stewart movie and have the nygga be asexual throughout.
