Anyone saying this is to make more buildings for the Olympics must not know how fukkin slow construction can take out here. They’d need to hire a bunch of foreigners to have shyt ready for 2028. The clean up is gonna take at least 2 years or more. Then the legal battle for the land.

I see sites for small pieces of land still not finished and they’ve been at it for 2+ years. :dead:

The only fast construction I’ve seen was for a chik-fil-a. That’s the only one that surprised me.

So in reading that CBS news article about insurance, some quick math:
-Per article, there are about 9,000 homes in the Palisades area
-Average value of homes in that area are about $3.1 million
-Average cost of insurance on the FAIR plan is about $3,200/year (more then double typical rate)
-So that means State Farm (and others) would charge about $1,600/year
-If every homeowner had the FAIR plan, they would only collect $28.8 million/ year (Regular insurer: $14.4 million)
-That $28.8 million/year collected would only cover 9 of the 9,000 homes (Only 4/9000 homes on the regular carriers plans)

So what would insurance companies do? Where are they getting the rest of the money?
Average home cost doesn't really matter in this case. You need to the cost per square foot if a rebuild. Its looks like its about $1,000 per sq foot to build in that area. The fair plan only provides coverage for fire and not contents so thats probably why thats lower cost. I doubt the fair plans are covering the whole rebuild. We get offered earthquake insurance every year and that only covers 1/4 of structure of my home.

I read a drone damaged a super scooper water airplane and it is going to be out of commission because some idiot needed to fly their drone in restricted airspace.

1500 gallons of water that could be saving someone’s life or home down because you needed to take photos in an area already evacuated

That’s not even the wildest conspiracy I’ve read. Dudes saying it’s to “destroy evidence” linked to The Diddler and other :demonic: celebs. That evidence was destroyed the moment his house was raided months ago. :dwillhuh:

Reddit weirdos going apeshyt. :scust:

You might not like it, but I partially blame Trump for these individual fire setters.

So far, the ones I've seen they appear to be Hispanic. When you stoke the flames of immigration and threaten ppls livelihood in a trashy fashion, and do so publicly, they have nothing to lose and will act out.

It's a terrible thing to do but when some ppl come from a terrible place, and possibly being forced to go back, they have no conscience. Especially when you make them feel less than human. So they will burn sht down.

Not saying they shouldn't be sent back, but Obama had the largest mass deportation in American history and most ppl don't even know that fact bc he didn't behave like Trump
I agree breh

The incompetent liberal governor, senators and mayors of California have no responsibility when it comes to preparing for and handling fires

The man who isnt in office is to blame

They obviously need to raise taxes in California...
the state doesnt bring in enough money

Shared risk. All the other premiums they collect that don’t have claims, the interest they collect on investments they make with some of those premiums, it’s why insurance companies like AIG almost went out of business during the 2008 financial crisis
