All good breh.

In very simple terms think of LA as a major city, now think of some hills/very small mountains dividing LA to the north. Those hills have the Hollywood sign. That area north of those hills is The Valley. That’s where Calabasas is. It’s almost like a suburb, but not really as things like Universal Studios and other popular places you hear about are located there.

You see that green area on the map below where it says “Sherman Oaks”? That green area are those Hills: above it is The Valley, below it is what people refer to when they say “LA”. As you can see the Valley is still a huge area.

That’s basically it.

Extra info: The main freeways that drive through the Los Angeles region go into and out of The Valley as well so it’s all connected. City of Los Angeles, Inglewood, Compton, Long Beach, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, etc. are not part of The Valley (although North Hollywood is) because they’re south of the hills. Orange County is South of Los Angeles, Riverside/Inland Empire are East of Orange County and San Diego along with the military base in Oceanside are South of Orange County. West of Calabasas you get to Oxnard and start approaching Santa Barbara. Malibu and the Pacific Palisades is a little west of where you see the “1” on the map which is Pacific Coast Highway.

I find it interesting that the Mayor said that they are going to remove the red tape and regulation that causes building delays. This tells me they could have done this before to really help alliviate the housing shortage, but they didn't want to. But now that rich folks want to rebuild their homes, they are cutting the regulation. Makes you think that housing shortage is largely because of city regulations and red tape.
builders and the like have been saying that for the longest

its hard to build in major metro areas because of all the nonsense rules...
its why you only see those "luxury apartment buildings" go up

People always speak of the great weather in California versus the terrible weather in the South and Midwest. Fugg wildfires..

Give me that snow, humidity and tornadoes any time over whole parts of towns burning down.
