It ain’t a charity. Their actuaries said we can’t be here at current premiums. The state said you can’t raise em, so they bounced. Not sure what exactly you want them to do. The city fukking burned down mere months later so clearly they were correct
State Farm is playing games with their books, even so, people would be ok with a reasonable hike, but there were people trying to buy homes getting quotes for 10k+ on policies that would’ve been 2500 a year ago. That’s gouging. Maybe State Farm has to accept they’re in a poor margin business, like streaming
No one was “correct”. Everyone from civilians to politicians to agricultural companies to big business knows Cali is (getting) drier. They did nothing to compromise on rate hikes because they feel they should have zero risk, that’s not how insurance should work, but that’s how we let businesses run over consumers in the USIt ain’t a charity. This.Insurance is a scam as long as the company can take most of the money is gets coming in for premiums and invest, (cheat code talk for cheat, scam, wash, who the hell knows) and has no accountability for remaining solvent for worst case scenarios.
Everyone at the top of the company looks at each other, confused wondering where the money went. Meanwhile, they draw large salary and performance based bonuses.- Cold game
If opportunity was there, other insurers would have came right in when State Farm bounced. That did not happen. The state neglected to do anything to improve its chances of mitigating wildfire risk, while the risk rapidly increased by the year. This negligence wasn’t new. It’s been pointed to for years, and ultimately led to insurers widely not offering insurance. They calculated the risk was higher than the compromised rate hikes of 7/20/30%, the state said no it’s not. Now here we are, merely a few months after these discussionsNo one was “correct”. Some People keep saying the left lost because they need to court more right wingers. It looks like when the left actually does that it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. It sounds like they actually need to stop listening to conservatives and keep “talking down” and just do what they ran on.
This is absolutely bullshyt and needs to stop being spread. The state/local municipalities clear undergrowth, so controlled burns, and hell, even have goats every spring/early summer to eat dry brush. There is no 100% mitigation, especially as climate change (drought, warmer temps, strong winds/storms) make conditions worseIf opportunity was there, other insurers would have came right in when State Farm bounced.
