Does anyone here has Great Migration stories? Like why did y'all families leave a certain state in the South specifically?

My great uncle testified against Theodore Bilbo in the '46 case the Senate brought against Bilbo for denying black people the right to vote. White folks threatened my great uncle for testifying so he fled to Kalamazoo, MI.

My grandad knew he would only be a poor farmer if he stayed in Byhalia MS, so he and his sister moved to Flint MI to get a job at GM.
