I think I like it more than Euphoria, too but didn't want to be too reactional. This one is based in reality so much more than Euphoria IMO. More grounded.
I like it more than euphoria.
What was your favorite storyline?
I'd say the Sax storyline was my favorite
Started with HS boys being knuckleheads. Then the pill popping, mad at her life CaC teacher blowing things way out of proportion (felt like too much of a reach, honestly, to classify that as theft so I was a little worried, but things really leveled off after that). They did a great job of showing that they were just boys being boys, but were actually good kids. They were really apologetic once they realized they crossed the lines. I liked how they showed they felt obligated to repay their debt and even though they did, the damage was done as Dom needed that money for a specific purpose and they caused her to miss that deadline. That's a life lesson: Sometimes despite your best intentions, you can't undo what's already been done.
I like how they had Joey insert herself into that situation as the misinformed altruistic voice seeking "justice" not realizing (or not caring) that the Black boys are at a much higher risk to face unreasonable punishments. Great juxtaposition in Joey not seeing that while Dom did (despite being the one being victimized).
Jayson's relationship with his family was great from his parents to his grandfather. Really nice to see a strong black family on screen.
Thought they did an excellent job showing Jayson getting bamboozled by a system that he thought would appreciate the nuances of the situation at the suspension hearing. So many get steamrolled in that situation.
Although it was sad to see the bond broken, Owen's reaction was some real ass shyt. Again, intentions aside, sometimes you just can't undo your mistakes. Owen had every right to be pissed. From the outside looking in, I'd say that Owen was unfairly directing too much of that anger at Jayson, but I get it and many boys would act the same having their world crumble so quickly like that.
I knew he was going to protest at all state, but that played out very well imo.

What did you think of the rape arc?
Was she raped? I went back and forth on that since they didn't show the incident in its entirety. Based solely on what was showed, I'd say she wasn't rape. She initiated everything, they were drinking and smoking. Then they crossed the line and she didn't verbalize her desire to stop. Courts likely disagree with me, but I don't see how you can call that rape. They were damn lucky they had them videos.
Joey was annoying af, but was the prototypical feminist. Thought she killed that storyline. So self-righteous, and entitled and completely unrealistic about how the world works and will react to the BS she did. Wanted to scream at the screen when she was lecturing at Tim the Simp that "she can do whatever she wants"...his punk ass should have told her that she can, but he doesn't have to continue trying to pursue her after that. Actions have consequences which too many feminist don't want to accept.

My least favorite arc was the confused Asian chick, but even that was some real shyt and done well so I can't even knock it
I typically don't care for gay coming out stories but I thought that was pretty good as well
