I built a computer and now I'm suffering the consequence of not knowing Wtf I was doing. It was working fine, then it started acting funny. My little niece would be playing WoW and every 10 minutes .... the blue screen pops up. :to: How can I figure out Wtf is the cause of it?

Times are hard and I dont feel like dropping a couple hundred for someone to fix it if it's something obvious.

Listen to Malta. Your BSOD will tell you what went wrong. Get the minidump read and your problem will be presented to you.

Download and install BlueScreenView . It will show you all the BSOD dump files and detail fault error, what driver caused it, and some other info. Makes troubleshooting much easier.

Run check disk full scan that takes about an hour
Made sure all the drivers are up to date( drivers cause most crashes )
Make sure ur virus definitions are up to date n run a scan.

You said you built the comp. double check you put the thermal compound on the CPU.

Probably a driver thats causing it though.

Ok, I'm on mobile so my replies are gonna be separate.

The first time the blue screen came up, I took a pic of it and the reasoning was a 'bad pool header' ... but now for whatever reason .. now there's no reason listed when the blue screen pops up. It just goes blue, and then restarts. :sadcam:

I honestly don't even know what a mini dump file is.

I put a brand new 2tb hard drive in. (Seagate) and a brand new video card in also. Motherboard is an Asus.

Blue screen is more like a stroke than death, I've got a dozen on my current PC and it still works fine

:yeshrug:

usually it has to do with overheating tho

I got 4 fans that all are working in my tower. I'm not sure that's it. :sadcam:

Can u PM me how to do this? (Or anyone) cause I've got a feeling that it could be a driver.

Also... last night, after googling it and doing some troubleshooting, I decided to reinstall windows 7 .. to see if that would help.. and now I'm not even able to do that. Midway through the installation, it stops and says something ailing the lines of 'windows wasn't able to complete installation. (It was another blue screen. Different this time tho.. the white text only took up like a quarter of the page.)

I'm confused brehs. :sadcam:
