That’s rough. That’s why these low rates are so detrimental

Dudes can barely save up enough for major repairs so when you add up down time living expenses on top of that it just doesn’t make sense to run dry Va and reefer anymore.

I already see the move with dry van. Brokers putting multi picks/drops on the board. I saw one on 123 that was 20 stops for a $1.40 a mile going from the east to midwest :dead:

What do you do now? And what was the breaking point for you

I’m thinking of getting into car hauling or maybe even moving

If those get oversaturated as well I’m done.
I'm a firefighter. Breaking point was seeing a 20K pay cut in the span of 1 year when I didn't change anything. Just started cutting back work, switching up contracts, cutting people's bonuses. I figured if I was gonna take a pay cut I might as well do something worthwhile. Also got tired of struggling to stay in some kinda shape driving. Then the industry keeps getting more and more regulated. Shyt used to be chill. Then you get a bunch of new people fukking up CSA scores. Everything's automatic now so it's not even fun anymore. Cameras in everything.

The O/Os I know have to run hard as fukk just to live aight and I don't feel like pouring myself into THAT industry just to live aight. I've seen a lot of older cats 30+ years deep in it and it's always been ups and downs for them. Their health is usually fukked because you sit all day and most of the time they started out back innaday doing great at a company then _____ happened so they went somewhere else, became an owner op, then _______ happened and they were back being a company driver and it's wash, rinse, repeat for decades.

My prediction is that with all the automation, regulation, rates, and megacarriers bogarting; within the next 10 years driving a truck will be the same level as stocking shelves, mostly.

You have the right idea, though. There's still niches where you can make some good money if you know what you're doing and where to do it. Hope your endeavors prove fruitful :salute:

My best friend is a truck driver and with the work i do, i can be on the phone with bruh damn near all day. The stuff i’ve learned over the last 3 years about trucking makes me tell me at least once a week that i respect him and any other truck driver :salute:

Blew my transmission and clutch out in May and was down a month :snoop: Extended warranty covered it. Then they "discovered" I needed an EGR valve test driving the truck after the initial work was finished. Trying to decide what my next move is too but a cat from Landstar switched from flatbed to dry van and I was like :why:
New trucks are a pain because if they need work and it’s covered under warranty that shyt will put you out for a minute.. unless you got a second rig ie: day cab as a back up shyt get real spooky… I’d rather a Pete or kenworth from 05 and down.. No def and parts are readily available…

And yeah mans going from a flatbed to a dry van a crack head.. Tell mans get that 53ft step deck and stop bullshytting

I heard tanker o/o at Schneider don’t make shyt

It's their network that has an advantage. You can instead be Leased on to a larger national company. For those large companies, it would be a benefit to only own a Tractor and have them pay for all of the licensing fees, insurance, etc. O/O have to pay and use Schneider's contacts to get loads
