It's probably because the art style is so "childish" that I dont take it seriously. I enjoy the banter between her and Joshua. I actually stopped 20 hours into Trails of Cold steel to go back and play FC

if "boring" they mean he doesn't have any of the usual main protagonist quirks, sure. He just a regular dude trying to make it through the day at his job.

I did the reverse. Own Trails in the sky didn't really move me but I saw reviews about the later games so I got Zero and CS 1. Enjoyed Zero, really liking CS1. Gotta go back and beat Trails in the sky
