'Gossip Girl' Update Lands Straight-to-Series Order at HBO Max

Kids that look a little to old for high school are getting bullied by their teachers because they jealous, is that good enough of a synopsis for you?

Ppl want you to explain every show without a computer, instead of doing research on their own, or I don't know, watch it for themselves

pilot was decent.

it has potential but it depends on them being able to thread the drama of the students in with the teachers running Gossip Girl stuff better.
the teachers/Gossip Girl parts felt like they were in the way. like watching people parody a Woody Allen movie set in modern times.

you can tell they're going for the more prestige tone (HBO baby) so it did lack that little warmth that original show made sure to include.

but I'm not mad at it after that one episode.

I want to like this but the teachers are way too meta for my taste. Julien and perhaps Zola are the only characters that interest me.

I want the teachers to either be phased out or lose control of Gossip Girl.

When you really think about it Gossip Girl was the biggest achievement of the mid 00s teen dramas. Where most actors on these shows fail to sustain a career Gossip Girl has three that achieved success: Blake lively who regularly stars or is casted in movies, Penn who stars in one of Netflix's biggest series YOU and Chace as The Deep in The Boys. Much better than the likes of The O.C., 90210, One Tree Hill, Smallville etc.

I don't know if this is good or bad. If the first season is a hit it means HBO/wb can reboot shows great conceptual shows that ended less than 10 years ago like the vampire diaries or a modern Friday night lights or true blood.

Ben Mckenzie who played Ryan ended up starring on Gotham.
Adam Brody who played Seth ended up on multiple tv shows and movies, most recently Startup and Shazam.
Chris Pratt is in Marvel and is bigger than anybody who was on Gossip Girl.
Olivia Wilde who played Seth's girlfriend in season two is a major Hollywood actress.
Peter Gallagher has been in bunch of movies. One of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood.

The OC had plenty of stars do well after its run. Mischa Barton just flopped.

I have a feeling they went with making the teachers more involved for people who watch the original to relate to. Not sure how I feel about it but it looks like they are still working out the kinks for the pilot.
