There would have been nothing wrong with walking up to a pilot and asking him “How do I become a pilot?”, because that is a form of research. People, mostly girls, will ask my wife allll the time “How do I become a doctor like you?” and instead of being a jerk and saying “go do your own research” she’ll take 2 or 3 minutes, and tell them what she did.
