I heard they bought it for Motorola's patents. They're gonna let Motorola do their own thing for the most part.

Ahh, I see. Ok makes sense. But you'd think they would want some first class in house hardware for the rest of their partners to emulate. That's apple's strength, they control the software and the hardware.

Yeah, I do remember that now but I still question it. Just because the patents were the primary purpose doesn't mean they should pretend like the rest of the company doesn't exist anymore.

No reason not to leverage that R&D and manufacturing expertise for things like flagship phones and standalone google tv devices is all I am saying. The sale just fully closed and passed regulatory approval so I guess it's too early in their partnership for what I've suggested anyway.

then u should also remember other manufacturers being extremely wary of Google purchasing Motorola for exactly the reasons you think they should be taking advantage of. Google not tryna fukk up those relationships breh

Exactly, why would Google go and screw over their oem's. The nexus program already allows Google to launch flagship devices without annoying their oems.

After acquisition, Google reiterates it is 'not integrating Motorola' | The Verge

I say fukk it. Where are their partners going to go? Windows Phone? Some of them are already there anyway and haven't made a dime. Are they going to create another OS? Samsung has Bada, but that's a non-starter because nobody's gonna buy into an all new OS just starting out with weak ass app support all over again.

All Google would be doing is raising the overall standard so that the manufacturers making other devices step their game up. And if they're going w/ Asus, how is that practically not the same thing? The only difference is they'd be doing it all in house.

As I said... it's early. I think we're eventually going to see exactly what I'm talking about in due time. There's no way they buy that company only to have them keep putting out Motorola Cliq's and Razr's w/ a shytty overlay and no updates.

Companies never say one thing and then do another, right? Hell, look at the comments of the very article you posted calling bullsh!t on that statement about them "not integrating Motorola". They even put a Google exec in as CEO. Come on, breh.

Steve Jobs said there was no need for a phone screen larger than 3.5 inches. That nikka dead. And now we're getting a bigger screened iPhone. RIM's new CEO at first said he wasn't gonna sell sh!t, now there are rumors of them exploring selling the hardware business and just focusing on the back in services/software/etc...

shyt changes and simply taking these statements on face value is kinda silly.
