How do they define active users? Are active users people that login once, see that nobody uses it, and never use it again?

and that it doesn’t take much to make one an active user, especially with the number of services and other websites tied to these social networks in one way or another. Take YouTube, for instance – if Google were to link YouTube with Google+, it could make the number of active Google+ members skyrocket.

Not many people I know in my day to day life uses it but my stream is pretty lively and I don't mind interacting with people I have never met. As pointed out earlier, it's a great way to market whatever you are doing to a wide range of people with Communities
