No Big Boi said years ago thats not true anymore. They can be on any song they want together but Dre doesn’t want that.


Technically they’ve been broken up since Stankonia. They went into LA Reid’s office and told him they wanted to break up. Speakerboxx was supposed to be a Big Boi solo album but dre called LA two weeks before Speakerboxx was supposed to be submitted and asked him how much time he had to add his own album and make it an outkast album. Love Below was recorded and finished within two weeks!

-Outkast called LA into a meeting at Stankonia studios in early 03 to tell them they were most likely not going to record music together anymore.


-LA was shocked. He had no idea there were any issues and was assuming they were calling him over to listen to a new album. LA also confirmed that Outkast were always a self contained band, never used any writers, rarely sampled, and only worked with the Dungeon Family.


-LA said that he “felt” maybe Big Boi wasn’t 100% sure that the conversation would go down that way. Either way he didn’t let on if he was surprised, and they never stated if they were growing apart or if there were personal jealousies.

-LA never asked why they broke up.

-Big Boi had Speakerboxx finished and LA knew that “The way you move” was a smash. Five weeks before Big’s album was to be released Andre called and asked how long he had to record his own album and package it as a double album. LA told him he had two weeks. Ten days later he went to see Andre in the studio and Andre played him My Favorite Things and Prototype. At the two week deadline he came to LA’s office and played him Hey Ya.

They could have done soooooo much more with this track. Slowed it down a bit and gave it that true ON soul....witta actual full verse from Chuck D...gottdamn. Cant waste opportunities like that. Minus this cut this album is heat. Love some Goodie Mob...Cats music helped me get through some of the toughest times of my life. Still Standing....

This album has me feeling some type of way. My good friend passed suddenly this year and I keep wanting to talk to him about the album, and he isn't here.

The only thing he wasn’t going to do was push the album back. Plus The Way You Move was a smash hit as well. LA said they cross promoted the singles together so Way You Move hit number 1 as well. They gave them equal promotion.
