Muhfukkas trying to play rock and jock football and shyt....
I'm cool with it
I don't mind the efforts to reduce the injuries and concussions
The league would be very irresponsible to the current and future players if they don't begin to adjust the sport to complement the scientific suggestion that some injuries and concussion related disorders are avoidable
"bu bu it's tradition, why they changing the sport" fakkit nikka, there was a time when these nikkas had no face mask, stop trying to live dangerously through other folks
Here's the fatal flaw in your argument: Safety at the expense of the actual game defeats the purpose of playing at all.
Football is an inherently violent sport. It's one thing to protect players and nobody is upset at wanting to preserve player safety. The problem is that for a sport like football, you can only do so much before you infringe on the game itself and that's what eliminating kickoffs would do. Having kickoffs isn't irresponsible to the players because it's not as if the players are all wanting kickoffs to go away (in fact, there's an entire section of the team that would be assed out if kickoffs went away). Even those that suffer concussions or are at risk will tell you the same thing: this is the life they chose.
What's next? In order to prevent those noncontact ACL tears, foam rubber fields?
But because the game is inherently violent and we are not living in the times of roman gladiators, they should do what is needed to maintain the high quality talent that the NFL demands. Besides, NFL reported a slight decline in concussion reported during the kickoffs, since the last kickoff adjustment. That's a good thing both for the sport and fans
So if that's the case, just keep it there. Don't eliminate kickoffs. So many concussions happen now with the QB getting sacked. Should they eliminate rushing the passer? The WR's get concussed being a defenseless receiver. Should the NFL outlaw pass deflections? Certain things in football, while it's unfortunate and awful, are unavoidable.
Bob Ryan even said today, if we were all following common sense, football wouldn't even be allowed to be played, but this country has an obsession with the barbarity that is football.
The reason why they came up with roughing the passer penalty, to protect the QB
The reason why they are trying to work on "proper tackling" rules, is to protect the WR
EDIT: I'm sure nikkas were saying to "keep it there, don't water this man sport further" when they started wearing mask
