1. Implications. If Gohan loses that beam struggle, the world and the solar system are cooked, and there isn't a re-do. All them níggas are dead...
2. Context factoring into the stakes: Gohan is a badly injured 11-year old who just saw his father give his life for nothing...because he got cocky for the first time in his life. Also, Cell just got a big ass power boost, AND that was his first legit fight.
3. The score was better and more iconic.
4. ALL of the Z-Fighters pitched in, as opposed to Goku going it alone with Hoe-Geta looking on like a thotty who always gets her man into predicaments.
