That Gods and Kings movie opened the door. Every time I see this movie I imagine if it was black people in the leading roles. :wow: Everyone says oh but the actors are recognizable. BS it's all about the cgi for the scifi and greek myth nerds (cough me) I just wish Tyler Perry made movies like these. Give black people a different kind of entertainment instead of struggle/triumph movies that makes people say oh wow black ppl really going through it...er um nah fuk that. I wanna see us in lead roles like scifi or drama like the main characters the smart doctors, cool wall street guys, i mean damn where's our Tom Cruise? lol wow this turned into rant cuz I hate seeing movies that should be for us being taken by boring pale people "acting"

I recall that a few years ago, back sometime around 2009-2010 I think, Will Smith was going to make a film called "The Last Pharaoh". He would star as Taharqa, the ruler of the Nubian Kingdom and Pharaoh of the 25th Egyptian dynasty. He seemed to be really excited about it, if I remember correctly.

That project just disappeared after it was first announced. It never got off the ground.

Not even Will Smith, one of the most recognizable and popular actors of our time, and who is considered to be one of only two black actors (the other being Denzel) who can totally transcend the issues Hollywood and the rest of the world has with black leading men in non-stereotypical/blockbuster films and draw a profitable blockbuster audience globally, could get a film about Ancient Egypt that starred/focused on a black cast off the ground. Not even WIll Smith could do it.

But Hollywood had no problem greenlighting trash like this and Exodus, along with giving them all the perks of a blockbuster film, including a triple digit budget. As long as it had a white cast, of course.

Just some food for thought.

I love how they do that token trick of getting British people to side step ain't no black people, not even as side characters, in the movie.

It's like they sit in their offices and be like ":ehh:......British is close enough..... :yeshrug:"
