Star Wars is of much bigger stature and budget from a bigger studio and they have cast 4 non-big names as the top 4 billed. Star Wars will make more in pre-sales than Exodus made at the box office during its total run. I know Star Wars is a different animal, but that is just to call out his excuse.

Well you cant compare star wars to anything else. It doesnt matter whos in it,its star wars lol.
I am surprised he worked with FOX again after I-Robot, if you listen to the commentary with him he was very displeased with the studio with their decision while filming I-Robot.

This is not a lack of diversity. Star Wars A New Hope was a lack of diversity. This is blatant racism. Egypt was the progenitor of western culture from metal, science, dynastic kings, religion, toilets, banjos, chemistry, writing, math and much much more. White washing a nation that consistently portrayed itself as being the past equivalent of modern blacks is not the same is failing to cast more tokens.

I liked alex proyas stuff when he did the crow and dark city and even Irobot... but he had to believe that after the Exodus fiasco he HAD to know this movie pertaining to the racial animus with the whitewashing was about to go down.And all things considered people are lambasting it because the movie lacks an incohenrent story and overbloated with unneeded rampant cgi
Yeah I don't think star wars is the best comparison but still Scott is a fukking moron. You can cast a known minority lead (there are plenty out there) whom you can market the movie on and then have a very diverse cast, hell, you could even throw in the random white dude who they put makeup on to look like an arab and I'd be more forgiving. You'd think Hollywood would get the message after all the latest white washed Egyptian movies have flopped. Hell, you can market a movie on Ridley Scott's name ALONE. The director of Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Blackhawk Down, etc. That answer was such a cop out to Ridley being too lazy to really fight the studio to make an authentic looking film. Alex Proyas is a talented director he and the studio totally dropped the ball on this film and I knew this was a trainwreck since the very first trailer came out with that shytty CGI.
