Show promised a lot and delivered little. They did nothing with the majority of the cast.

4 episodes in, and I really dig this show. First episode was good. Second episode almost lost me, but the character development in the third and fourth episodes were excellent :ehh:

This dude Jojen from Game of Thrones (Whitey) got some legit acting chops

Took me so long to realize that was him..

Just finished the show, would have preferred for no black people to be in it as opposed to the way they was treated. Good western though really enjoyed it but have minor gripes with the show. Nexflix have been on a roll dam.

Update:

So I finished the show. 9/10

I understand brehs disappointment with the blackdom and Whitey but damn...

I LOVED that this show didn't pander to the black characters in such a way that it would have insulted our intelligence.

It would have been so corny if the buffalo soldiers would have been held with the upmost care in the midst of the underlying racial tension and superiority complex that clearly existed at the time.

No way that Griffin and his crew - who have had a run in with these same soldiers - would have allowed bygones to be bygones and really think that a deal would have been struck to allow Griffin's gang to just run up into La Belle without interference from Blackdom.

As a matter of fact, brehs who are concerned with a negative portrayal, wouldn't y'all have found it suspicious that a terribly evil gang would be able to make deals with Blackdom as if the residents of blackdom were of similar moral standing?

The Blackdom population was probably the most honest, genuine and low key morally high ground group in the entire show.

The beauty of the show was that it didn't treat anyone or any group as being fantastically above the chaos and tragedy of the wild west.

I legit was emotionally upset about that scene but in regards to the surprise and the way it pulled at my strings - I appreciated it.

There is a great respect I have for the show in that I am very confident that the Netflix board room didn't brainstorm about the story arc of Blackdom and roll their eyes and go "*grunt* okay, so you know we have to handle this "group" with puppy gloves so we don't get a big racial backlash. Let's pander, guys..."

There is a level of respect of handling Blackdom with the same level of importance as the other characters.

Co-sign 100%. What went down with blackdom is very realistic considering the times....

I started this last night. I’ll probably finish it tonight.

This is very good. The Downton Abbey woman is doing a great job (she rarely fukks up her accent). She also went topless, which surprised me, but it was justified, given the scene (i.e, it wasn’t sexual at all and added to the brutality of the rape).

Side note: Dolby Vision looks so goddamn good. It is much better than only regular HDR 10 :whew:

Just finished it. It was very good. I like how every episode lasted as long as it should have, and not more or less, with some only lasting 41 minutes and others at 80 minutes. :ehh:

8.5/10
