I give this show a 0% chance at being renewed for season 2. I could easily see it getting canceled before all the episodes even air.

You were wrong, it got season 2 but not a season 3 lol.

covid didnt cancel the show. it did affect the finale though. they only had 5 days of filming done so they used alot of old and unused footage like the mountain top they said was shot for the pilot.
