I don’t see what the issue is. People wanna pay for what they get. If I got a cheap small meal why am I paying extra? I don’t give if the staff are annoyed and don’t wanna do it...it’s work. I don’t wanna do 80% of the shyt at my job either, but I still have to. At the end of the day you’re there to serve your customers

yeah, but it gets split equally that way right?

some peoples party larger or ordered crazier than others, especially when drinks involved.

but this is why checks should get split in the first place.

not after the fact.

i feel you but that’s considered tacky in most settings. You either split evenly or pay with one card and that person squares up the balance with everyone later.

They birthday host should have paid the $2200 and had her guest pay her later

There's really nothing more than this. Whoever hosts is supposed to pay and you're supposed settle the in-and-outs of your evening with the restaurant manager beforehand. Typically that means a set menu (salad/ bread/ chips&salsa for the table, choice of 2-3 appetizers, choice of one of three entrees, and either ice-cream or cake, unless the host bought a cake to be sliced.) most of the time the first non-alcoholic drink is complimentary but all drinks and alcoholic beverages there-after are to be paid per person. Or, if the host didn't want to pay, again work with the restaurant to get a flat fee per/person so everyone knows upfront, 'yeah, you can get a 'salad and some buffalo wings' but you gonna owe $50 no matter what...

There were ways to make this happen -- everybody did themselves a disservice with this one.

I’ve been forced to go out in big groups like this when I was still in the military, and I don’t ever remember us having just 1 or 2 servers. It was maybe a server per 6-8 people. Is it that hard for 3-4 servers to split the bill for their customers?!

Another thing, some of these comments:what:
Where did some of y’all grow up?! Decades ago when I worked in the service industry my worst customers were dusty ass folks of all races, and very well off Whites specifically. Because it seemed like everyone from those demographics either wanted you to kiss their ass and give them special treatment, were broke ass cheapskates who wanted discounts, or the worse: broke asses who also expected you to kiss their ass. Granted, I grew up in a middle class, very diverse area, right outside a military base.
