Drake had two back to back weak albums, his last decent one was Certified Lover Boy and that was also mediocre. He’s abandoned the rapping and made pop friendly music more than ever. I think him beefing with Pusha played a part in it.

Says who? As long as Drakes rapping, hes ALWAYS going to be reminded. Hes the one who claimed that nothing was done for him and is up there with the greats but got exposed as a liar for having ghostwriters, being an industry plant and etc. He tried to cosplay as a music artist and realized he was an bad actor the whole time. It made more sense to point that up that he's a pop artist right then though. A lot of songs that had him clearing a mllion first week don't even feature rap. He and his fans compare him to Michael Jackson as absurd as that is.

It's routine for pop artists to have their music and whole sound constructed for them. He wouldn't get hate if he was fine with being the male Madonna, but he's screaming top 5 and vying for rap supremacy.
