The yellow ranger was a guy in the Japanese show. They used a lot of shots from Japan and just voiced over, when they were in suits /zords. So thats just the Japanese guy in reality.

It's probably partially why they didn't switch outfits when they got the thunder zords. The follow up show, Gosei Sentai Dairanger also only had one woman on the team. That white ranger, who is Tommy in power rangers, was a child
