i really don't get what your getting here..you were making a reference that we should return to old america even though the politicians of old america were as corrupt as the ones today...don't get me wrong i think this gitmo thing is horrid but this shyt really doesn't suprise me
I think he's actually saying that the disparity between proclaimed ethics and political-economic action has existed since America came into existence, hence the "give me liberty or give me death" and "story of America" statements. There's nothing to go back to in old America, because its story is the same as current America, and will be the same as America in the future.
You two are in agreement.
Oh, and the quoted statement in the title more right than Faiz al-Kandari will ever know. The worst part is that, as much as I support his actions and as much as my Schopenhaurian/Humean approach to suicide is invoked here, it probably won't change much, BECAUSE al-Kandari is exactly right with that statement of his.
