I think what some of yall aren't getting about Ray's caping over vapid ass Marnie is that Marnie is a dime (white standards not mine).
In this show's universe, Ray isn't exactly Brad Pitt, so he's hit way above his paygrade. You would think someone as well read, free thinking and intelligent
as Ray would scoff at the idea of dating someone as simple and selfish as Marnie but he's smitten by her beauty.
The dude is miserable and lonely. And to have someone of Marnie's quality fall into his lap? Of course he's gonna act a fool.
Many men can relate to a time doing stupid, out of the ordinary things when they had a brief affair with a shallow woman with no redeeming qualities... but her physical attributes made up for them for the time being.
He should know better though....he's older than them. His character is supposed to be like 33 years old. While the girls are in their mid 20s.

Lol....Hannah and Marnie are just too narcissistic, self celtered and vacuous for me. Marnie is a text book narcissist. If Ray thought with the larger head, he'd see Marnie and Desi are perfect for one another. So by comparison they make the other two more tolerable. Jessa's bullshyt never take anything serious hippy attitude would wear on me after a while too. So that leaves Shosh, who's a sheltered type A perfectionist who's a bit snobby (JAP, guess you're right) but, that's the lesser of the other evils. I can deal with that.

I'm not calling you a racist, but the word Jap is a derogatory term.
Many people say it without realizing they've actually said it/that it's not ok to say. I let it slip once in my WW2 history class by accident because of all of the readings I had been doing, so it's something I always point out when others slip up too.
