How come these commentators spoke on Kwame for 20 years but when he finally responded, after aaaallll this time, they want him to move on (after 5 days)?
How come now all the commentators who were haranguing Kwame and other black athletes for things other than sports, now want to talk about sports and nothing else?
How come none of these commentators want to address none of the many salient and important points that Kwame has been making about sports, his career, media, economics, race, black family, black fatherhood, responsibility?
How come Shannon’s tweet is framing it as Kwame making mistakes during his career and no one else’s?
What mistakes did Kwame make exactly? Seems like Kwame had a long career. Made millions. Provided for his family. Retired. Happy. Not being the greatest basketball player isn’t not necessarily a ‘mistake’ on Kwame’s part. Every one has a ceiling with respect to basketball talent. Kwame, from his feed, seems the furthest thing from lazy individual. I’m sure he put in the work in the NBA. He just wasn’t as good as people expect a No 1 draft pick to be. Seems like Kwame was successful in the NBA beyond his talent. Doesn’t sound like a ‘mistake’ to me.
Essentially Kwame has boxed all these commentators into a corner because he’s making points on things that need to be changed but commentators know that if these things were to change their livelihoods would be threatened.
