The reality is they bought a sinking ship but these devs are too lazy to properly compete with COD so the ship has taken way longer to go completely under.
Now the best selling franchise every year is “sinking ship”

Sony stans crazy.

Meanwhile there is an actual sinking ship of a publisher who was “acquired” recently but yall don’t wanna talk about that :mjpls:

Subs increase doesn't hit what they are looking for maybe?

Unlike the past, MS is footing the bill for COD development, marketing (well Sony lessened that part), servers, etc whereas Activision did in the past.

But on the flipside, they get the Lions share of the revenue now from Sony/PC.

Thinking If the GP Subs increase doesn't hit projections, it may push their plans for more multiplatform development or just go straight full publisher in the future. There's a lot more personnel and much more costs involved vs the past. Can't trust Phil, but Nutella is doing too much hinting on wanting to go full multiplat/publisher.
Yep, Microsoft is spending money both developing and marketing the game now. So 70% of sales for them cost more than 30% of sales for sony who no longer have to pay for a marketing roll out every year on top of a higher % to Activision. I think sony were paying them 35%

they are really relying on increasing gamepass subs with this, a huge demo of would be buyers of COD could overlap with people who already subscribe to gamepass which is a loss of sale and not increasing subs
if sub numbers don't increase its a fail

No man, that's not how this works, ABK is more than just the A. Unless development of COD jumped up drastically then its a non issue... MS is getting 70 percent of whatever sales on playstation, which is an increase of 100 percent from 0 as well as 70 percent more from the platforms they sale it on.
Its almost a fail proof situation, even if subs barely moved and the game performed as it typically would its a W for MS.
70 percent is a huge amount of money for a game like this... It's like yall don't remember just how much Sony was depending getting that 30 percent from ABK according to the leaked docs

If not here you go...

And at the end of the day everyone still gets to eat. Consumers, Sony and MS.

Already said, them getting the lion's share of the revenue now can't be discounted even if the subs don't move.

The issue is their own hardware continuing to struggle. If all of your games are going to be on the competitor's platform because you need that revenue to pay for the publisher purchases, then why get the Xbox hardware. Or keep making it going forward.

They'd be better off just going full multiplatform at this point. Nutella already wants it to be that way. Goal should be getting a form of Gamepass out on Sony/Nintendo platforms and being full game publisher period IMO.

As a person that has dumped an absurd amount of hours into each call of duty, I'm telling you, the franchise has been spiraling towards the bottom of the drain for some time now.
I don't have this weird allegiance to something making it above criticism like you all did with Halo.
I've been consistent for years practically begging for another dev to step up and knock COD off the number 1 spot.
It's best selling because it's going unchallenged every year, not because it's "the best game".
The quality of the game has dropped with each release after the MW remake and the stuff the devs are doing with the installs are flat out egregious.
This is the third or fourth time now that there is a mandatory update that installs content I do not own, and deletes content I own, in an attempt to force content down my throat [super saiyan autonomous ultra instinct pause]. Just last night, 70 gig download installs BO6 (which I do not own) and deletes Warzone, and MW3 off of my hard drive automatically.
Battlefield needs to get their crap together and get back in there and properly compete.

You are one of millions.

Your opinion doesn’t trump the millions of people playing that game every year.

You can stop playing and COD will still be the best selling game this year.

:childplease:Your stannery blinded you to the fact that I explained COD is going unchallenged.
Sales and player counts don't always mean the game is great 100% of the time.
COD, especially as of late, is the perfect example of mid being propped up way higher than it deserves because it exists as the only oasis in a desert, especially when you look at the console FPS space. I'm not saying anything unique here. Don't act like I'm in such a tiny minority.

When BF was poppin COD still kicked its ass everytime out.

Nobody is competing because nobody CAN compete.

I never said the game is “great” i don’t play COD. Have not enjoyed on in over a decade.

But in no way can you ever claim the best selling franchise EVERY YEAR is a “sinking ship”

You sound crazy :manny:

COD is fukking nice. Outside of MW2 and Vanguard, I still don't see the "COD is wack smh" angle people be saying. Unless all you play is Warzone or Zombies and something in there sucks, the MP is always top notch compared to other titles. I don't get how COD is wack.

Why can't I?
It's you and I speaking. Put the general public to the side.
I don't automatically equate sales numbers with quality or the health of something, so when I say something is a sinking ship, I don't just jump to the sales numbers.
I look at it the way I look at music. The best rapper isn't the highest selling rapper.
COD as a video game has been spiraling for years. Other devs can absolutely compete, but I can make the argument that them trying to emulate COD to some degree or another is what has had them fall short each time. The competitive FPS genre, especially on consoles, feels stagnant as hell. Shoot, as I think of it now, the best FPS on consoles right now is probably Doom, but that didn't have a strong multiplayer component to it.
I'm seldom the one on this board bragging about sales metrics, frames per second, resolution, etc. (Numbers overall). Maybe you'll find a sarcastic joke here and there but I'm always on the side of the quality and experience of a game first and foremost.
