Ghost Rider - what is the value in this character in 2017 and beyond?

Guillermo Del Toro would be cool


Ghost rider stories always have demons, angels, etc so there's potential for really cool imagery


The one thing he lacks is a good villain though which is why he works best as a side character imo. I wouldn't mind a new character being created for a movie.

R rated movie or better yet TV MA series with a director that respects the source material.

This is all he needs everything else is there cool recognizable look, cool origin/mythos and character, good comic runs to pick from.

Garth Ennis run with him getting screwed over by those two Angels and being sent to hell until he realizes he has the ability to cross dimensions. Satan followed him to Earth and Johnny ending up fighting him and making him explode into 666 pieces. He had to track him down as he possessed different people and he got stronger with each piece destroyed. I forgot how he eventually beat him but you could make a trilogy on Johnny like that. Or keep it simple and use Blackout properly and not that Spirit of Vengeance version
