I'm the only one here who thinks Kell Brook will AT LEAST be GGG's toughest fight?

nah. I really think Kell is gonna shock a lot of people. also, GGG is a good fighter, however....I cant give him credit beyond that. this fight will tell us a lil more about him. GGG has only beaten average fighters, most lacking sorely in a specific catagory or extremely imbalanced. Lemieux...big puncher, no boxing skills. Monroe Jr, good boxing skills, no power. throw in journeymen like Stevens and Rosado, guys who have good records with horrible resumes like Wade, and finish by sprinkling the rest of Sergio's leftovers on the top of that scrap heap and you have GGG's largely unimpressive resume for a 34 year old.

I know amateurs shouldn't count but the guy has beaten Yordanis Despaigne, Andy Lee, Andre Dirrell, Matvey Korobov and knocked out Lucian Bute. He's seen a lot of styles knows tricks of the trade, traps. He's more skilled than a lot of people think. That said it will be interesting though

I value amateur career too, Danny Garcia had a good one too.

Golovkin has 345-5 career, olympic silver, amateur champ. Very few have better amateur credentials. Only pro I can think of from the top of my head is rigondeux, lomachenko, Andre Ward. Some people were surprised when he took lemeuix to school but forget the aforementioned

Excellent point, I truly think Golovkin is better than we have been led to believe, which is why I'm excited to see his gameplan tonight.

I hope he doesn't opt to just overwhelm and rush Brook tonight, because I think he'd open more eyes by systemically breaking him down over the course of a fight, instead of just bombing out the former WW.

He showed those skills versus Lemieux, but the question is how those talents are going to translate against better competition. Nonetheless, it was still impressive to see how GGG battered and neutralized Lemieux.:ehh:

that's what is so intriguing about GGG. he was such a good amateur and you can see he has boxing skills galore....but without being tested in the pros really, that's where it can get tricky. your mental fortitude weighs a lot heavier in the pros. what happens if he gets rocked really bad? or if he falls dangerously behind on the cards? I think this fight is good for him, I am not going to criticize him too much for it. If he wins, I just want to see him stay on the path with nothing but name fighters.

Yeah but the physical difference will be a huge factor which why I am critical of this fight. Despite how talented kell brook is size matters a ton. You need to be a generational talent to go up 2 weight divisions against a kingpin of that weight division and win.

while what you are saying has truth to it.....I pay very close attention to how fighters look at the weigh in. I dont see a huge size difference. GGG has a deeper chest but thats about it. he may have more upper body strength but again, not sure. Kell's body looks really good. Doesnt look like he has weight out of place or simply tried to put on weight. he looks very natural.

on the other hand, GGG looked drained. could he have stamina issues going into the later rounds? I think its a huge possibility, meanwhile, Kell is a big welterweight who probably feels really comfortable without having to cut weight because he is already a muscular guy. stamina could be in his favor. the difference a lot of times in weight loss/gain is the fighter dropping weight can feel and be affected by shots much more while the guy gaining the weight or not having to drop as much....can deal with the punches better.

not saying Kell is Manny but whenever Manny jumped weight, I paid really close attention to his body, and while you are pretty much guessing as the way a body looks sometimes is moot....I never once felt like Manny seemed out of place. Kell may not look like a MW to some, but he sure as hell doesnt look out of place like another 147lber may.

edit: oh yeah, and from what I have seen, there isnt a huge disparity in height or reach.....they both are very close in those stats.
