So basically, in like November I started experiencing some slight pain in my chewing teeth. Nothing I haven't felt before from time to time, so I ignore it. Eventually it goes from a slight twinge to excruciating pain, I mean pain so bad that I couldn't even go to sleep at night. :wow: I'd just lay in bed tossing and turning while in agony :mjcry:

Eventually I realized that it wasn't gonna go away on it's own, so I went to the dentist for the first time since I was like 14. He told me I needed a root canal, gave me antibiotics and an ibuprofen prescription. The antibiotics gave me diarrhea :stopitslime: but the ibuprofen did take away like 95% of the pain :ahh: so it was all good.

I got the root canal on Jan. 7. I was super numbed up so it didn't hurt :ehh: but I did have soreness afterwards, which he said would go away with time as I took antibiotics, and that was true for the first bottle, but eventually I ran out, and it took me two days to refill the prescription.

The second I took a pill from the second bottle I started feeling crazy pain, almost worse than it was before the root canal. So 5 days ago I went back to the dentist. He gave me an x-ray and he told me that my tooth was still infected, and it might take like 6 weeks for it to heal, and if not, he would have to pull the tooth :francis: Sent me home with a different antibiotic and some more ibu. Unfortunately it's been 4 days and nothing's changed.

This the worst pain I've ever experienced :damn: The ibuprofen isn't even putting a dent in it. I'm suffering y'all :sadbron: idek if I'll be able to sleep tonight :to:

I'm finna call dude tomorrow and ask for a different pain killer cuz ibuprofen ain't built for this kinda pain. I need something stronger :mjcry:

I'm laying here with a hole in my tooth in pain waiting for my visit tomorrow.

Don't let them just give you inbf. Ask for something stronger. They love to just give out stronger ibf but take it from someone that has had multiple root canals.

That won't cut it, also you might have to see an endodontist, I know the pain man.

I'm right there with you. Toothache pain is top 5 pains... I don't know how the made in back in the day.

In the mean time if you have any higher proof alcohol (Vodka or any clear) you can let it sit on the tooth for some temporary relief.

Basically it numbs it for a bit.

Outside of that really becareful because if you had a root canal you shouldn't be in any more pain and the tooth shouldnt even be able to still be infected (with pain) seeing as the nerves are gone.

Which means they didn't clean out all the nerves and infection when they did the root canal in the 1st place and sealed and capped it back up. Allowing the bacteria to grow.

This stuff can legit kill you, so I'd suggest not even going back to the same dentist. Dude is going to pull a tooth that doesn't need to be pulled potential to cover up a mistake or because he doesn't know what he's doing really.

Call get narcotics, and set an appointment with someone else asap.

i had a root canal and the fakkit dentist had me come back like 3 goddamn times to get it done. his bedside manner was terrible also. had his little workers in there telling me everything that was going to happen. i had been to him once before but he lost a customer. mufukka if i'm paying you a grand, then i expect some kinda goddamn conversation. the actual procedure itself wasn't shyt and i've always gotten oxycodone after going to the dentist, even without asking for it. i would slap the shyt outta one of them if they tried to give me some over the counter bullshyt after a root canal. lol, op needs to call his office tomorrow and ask him for a stronger prescription.

edit: oh yeah, something you an do is get some bc headache powder and put it in warm water and swish that shyt around your tooth.

Go to a natural food store and try to find some Clove Oil Extract. Put a few drops on that tooth and it will kill the pain completely in like 10 minutes

I've been using it and it works, but only for like 30 minutes.

It's cool for temporary relief but it's impractical. I can't carry clove oil to class and work.

He should have given you some Tylenol + codeine or something similar, that type of pain is no joke. Sometimes these medical professionals think Black people don't feel pain like regular human beings. Or, they profile us as potential drug addicts and don't give us the meds we need.

I was lowkey thinking of this :patrice: He's an Indian dude.

Frequent trips to the dentist help maintain your teeth in good condition.

I feel your pain breh. I too neglected the dentist for years. Thinking I could just get by on Dr Colgate. Went back and had to get a deep cleaning and a bunch of fillings. Had one bad root canal and had to get the tooth removed. I need to get an implant done but I'm scared/trying to put it off until I have more money or things paid off. I also most surely have to get my wisdom teeth removed. :mjcry: I learned my lesson and I go for cleanings every single time it comes up. I wish I would've given a damn about going more in the old days. Anyone that's been neglecting it, please make an appointment asap. Now the doctor, that's another issue. I haven't seen one since probably the Clinton administration. :francis:

That's fukked up. I'm almost 30 and never even had a cavity. I'ma pray for you.

been in the same boat my whole life but i've had coverage with my parents up until i was 18, so i practically dating my dentist in regards to all the visits and check ups i had...

fast forward 8 years ive never had any dental issues but im getting kind of paro cause my gums have been kinda sore lately, not trying to pay a band or two for dental stuff...also knocking on wood since the only way to end any kind of tooth pain without dental work is suicide...

I'm going to send some positive thoughts your way breh, I experienced something similar when I was younger where I had a tooth infected right down to the nerve...I have never experienced such pain in my life and it's a major reason why TO THIS DAY I take my oral health/hygiene very seriously. Nothing gives you a wakeup call like a pulsing 2 second on/2 second off pain that lasts for several hours at a time :mjcry: I was damn near almost coming to tears begging Allah swt to stop the punishment.

Before my root canal, my cavity literally knocked my ass out for some 10 minutes after I chewed on it accidentally. I was unconscious

Thank Good for free dental with my scholarship
