And I said that? I stated "......these successes are predicated on novelty and stereotypes. Given their exposure and dominance in pop culture, American then British Africans lead the ratings" You think Football, Actors and Musicians don't help Germans perceptions of Black British people?
Yes. I think it does not.
Black Brits are a largely an unknown quantity in Germany and even with those that are aware of the presence of some UK brehs assume that they are immigrants to the UK much in the same way that black immigrants are in Germany. I.e. recent arrivals, largely shut out of normal society, Africans and mostly asylum seekers or economic migrants from poorer parts of the world. Most of them do not even know that almost 45% (and historically the majority) of UK brehs are from the Americas (the Caribbean). Almost to a man they do not know about the Commonwealth and that relationship historically in that all Commonwealth citizens were British citizens. They do not know of the black presence in Liverpool for more than a century. They do not know that countries like Barbados, Trinidad are not "3rd world". In fact it's rare to even find a German who can name a Caribbean country outside of Dom Rep and Jamaica. And in the case of the few high profile cases of black Brit stars that they actually are aware of they mostly are (partially in some cases) from Africa.
Name one Caribbean British breh with a major cultural footprint in Germany. It's Caribbean Brits which dominated and dominated the UK cultural footprint and have done so for decades. African brehs started building numbers 15 - 20 years ago and are still lack the cultural totems. Loose Ends,
@Billy Ocean, Eddie Grant, UB40 members, Selector members, Madness Members, Aswad, Imagination, Lynx / David Grant, Jackie Graham, Maxi Priest, Soul to Soul, Crazy Spice, Sugarbabes, Misteeq, Omar ... I could go on. Same with sport - Viv Anderson, John Barnes, Paul Parker, Paul Ince, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Herol Graham, Michael Watson, Nigel Benn, Lennox Lewis, Lewis Hamilton.. I could go on. Politics: Bernie Grant, John Taylor, Diane Abbott, David Lammy i could go on...
Stop talking about things you have no idea about. Your typical German would see all of the above as recent African economic immigrants to the UK doing sport or music eaeking out a living in the corner. They do not see them as an integral part of the UK (like AA's are in the USA). People like
Valerie Amos, Baroness Amos - Wikipedia are unimaginable. This last bunch of cabinet members might have some influence but it is early days yet.
A lot of Germans don't even know that there are millions of brehs in the UK and that cities like London and Birmingham are mixed to the extent they are. If you are black and educated and clearly not poor they will assume that you are American. If they are less exposed they will assume that you are an African with money. A sizeable number don't differentiate.
Where is the African-British page like this ?
Caribbean music in the United Kingdom - Wikipedia - "People of African descent from the Caribbean have made significant contributions to
British Black music for many generations.". The symbiosis between the UK and its colonies over centuries is again something that your average German knows nothing about.
And then on top of all of that German culture is not heavily influenced by Black British culture. In the NW / Central and N Germany they are influenced by Prussian + British norms - but not so much the British part. In the South they are heavily influenced by American culture. In the East by Russian. These foreign influences courtesy of what happened after WWII.
