well, we wouldn't have needed to turn Australia into another prison colony

so it could have been better for the Aboriginals although probably not.

england would have been better off if america remained a colony, but people in cali would still be living in new spain and people in NO would be living in new france because france would have never sold anything to england and the british or french would have left spain alone and the lower 13 colonies would have just merged into canada

Didnt France sell off NO because they lost Haiti? After the French revolution us or Spain would have probably took Louisiana

Edit: also the Napoleonic Wars would have been fought moreso in North America

maybe but the point im making is the french were cool with the americans, so they had no problem selling them their territories, if we were still colonies the french would have stabbed themselves before giving their enemies any territory

the whole manifest destiny thing that led to the expansion of the us was strictly american, the british had no real interest in expanding (in fact the crown forbidding expansion was one of the reasons stated in the decleration of independence) so most likely the 13 colonies would have remained 13 colonies + the northern colonies, and the west coast would have remained spanish and the spanish did not have any interest in expanding either
