If I remember correctly, I don't believe it's any guaranteed money beyond the first year, so they can easily move on from him if they choose to do so.

That was arguably on coaching as they should just have kicked the field goal instead of going for it on 4th down, which would have potentially set up the win for the second one. They unintentionally screwed themselves over.
Pete clearly thought they werent gonna get the ball back...You could blame HC in hindsight or the OLIne but you cant not put alot of blame on Geno..
Oh I'm not putting that Geno, but more so on Pete especially considering that their defense had the Bengals offense in check the entire time.

I'm not some Geno fan but I'm glad he got a fair shot. For a very long time, black QBs didn't get the opportunity to become a valued backup - much less transition from that back to being a starter. And given the way the analytics nerds were all on Darnold's dikk last season until the Lions and Rams destroyed him, it's funny how Geno never gets any type of respect/praise. He's not allowed to be good because x years ago the media declared him bad and nobody wants to change their mind. Similar to how Goff got exiled in those final LA years, then balled out in Detroit but nobody wanted to acknowledge it initially.
