Imagine a world free of genetic diseases, where parents control their offspring's height, eye color and intelligence. The science may be closer than you think. Genes interact in ways that we don't fully understand and there could be unintended consequences, new diseases that result from our tinkering. But even if the science could be perfected, is it morally wrong? Would it lead to eugenics and a stratified society where only the rich enjoy the benefits of genetic enhancement? Or would the real injustice be depriving our children of every scientifically possible opportunity?

I don't even know what to think about this:snoop:, Europe is already exploring these options
One side is arguing the fact that you'll be able to get rid/ prevent of diseases and disabilities.. on the other hand where are you going to draw the line pretty soon parents will be shopping for particular features/ skin tones

if you could afford to create a smart baby would you? :ehh:

I would start a new line of black baby girls who appreciate their natural hair

Humanity
it's inevitable.
if you prescribe to the whole "God created man in his own image" thing then humans are going to do the same thing and start tinkering with the building blocks of life.

Pandora's box has opened, now we just gotta wait and see what comes out of it.

We cannot avoid it. The moment we accepted GE food, scientists have been counting down the days

It's nice to be able to ensure healthy children but it's fukked up how people are really going to abuse it. But else is there to say really?

If a fetus is found to have Downs Syndrome and that can be corrected, that would be a major triumph of modern science.
But there's still the nature/nurture aspect. So sure, it would be nice to set a child up with great genetics (if possible) but I'm not sure I'd go to those lengths.

Birthing a child and raising them is one of the few truly organic experiences human beings have left in an increasingly pre-set technological world.
I don't think I'd want to mess with that. It probably wouldn't even feel like my own child if I did.

I hate people who argue against this. Why is it wrong to want certain features? I will welcome this technology and all its potential with open arms. I would like for my kids to be smart and good-looking. Why should we be content with what nature gives us? Why is it wrong to want my sons to be taller than 6 feet? Why is it wrong for me to want daughters with nice long flowing hair?

People need to get off this fallacy of just being content with "what God gives us." First, there is no evidence for a God. And secondly, our physical attributes are nothing more than chance and natural selection. I'd love to take the chance out of it and truly control the destiny of our species.

this is the next level of for classicism. only the rich will be able to afford genetic engineering/modification and they will use it as way to be on some :mjpls:

scientist are learning more and more every day, but i doubt they will ever unlock how and why nature adapts. they gonna learn the hard way when mother nature gonna get on that  and these "genetically superior" people start dropping like flies or developing random defects they can't figure out.
