The invading Mexico thing could get really choppy for everyone. Sinaloa is divided right now, the politicans are taking with both hands from IVAN and Mayo's Zambada's son. Personally, I think this election is why Mayo Zambada and Joaquin Guzman Lopez got on a plane to the US last summer.

Mexicos's government is effectively compromised. There's big money in all kinds of corruption, it's not all narco money, but there's a lot of that going around, at the state level, at the federal level.

These places are fiefdoms. Places like Sinaloa are really remote. The narcos are very well armed, but more than that, the minute the US sends like what blackhawks into the area, they will know. It's not a question of the locations. it's a delicate balance. The drug trade isn't stopping. Are they willing to turn Culiacan into like Mogadishu? Because that's how it will go down. That will be an international incident.

but the US throwing out rules of engagement, that would make for a really rough next 4 years. what is going to happen, is the fentanyl is going to slow way the fukk down. That's their only chance to avoid escalation. The purity levels have already dropped a lot from a few years ago, and that is coming from the top down. That and the outreach from the US will drive overdose deaths down.

It's not like random Twitter accounts are going to move the needle, but there is something to be said for that style of 'reporting' that we saw in the first Trump admin, not sure it's helpful. I get that it's a balance. But, letting the leaders play their little game as opposed to this kind of take down journalism that turns EVERY tweet into a last stand of Democracy....if Shienbaum's not tripping, why should anyone else?

Cycle:

1) Trump says something on a scale of 1-10 provocative or whatever

2) People say how stupid it is and unrealistic and launch into histrionics

3) The two world leaders release joint statements that are cordial and gracious to a degree they are allowed to be

4) he got played, he made a fool of himself, he got hoed by whoever, people go on CNN and say this, tweet it out

Sounds like you're missing the point or purposely talking past it.

Trump is our leader and leaders should be called out when they lie. It’s that simple.

Are far as the end of democracy quotes. He’s said and tried to overrule the constitution. Pretty serious stuff.

I think my growing realization is I don't believe most of these people are genuinely concerned about democracy or the 'correct' way to negotiate on trade via social media, it's just a cottage industry. Media industry. A cycle for them to cover.

relatedly, each issue turns everyone into an expert on whatever policy it may be and why it could never work, which I think is a reach too.

Sure they aren’t experts in everything, but the a lot of that id just due to how social media algorithm work.

Being sassy, sensational, speaking from authority all get pushed to the top where a simple this is what happened tweet gets pushed to the bottom.

Those two are related also, he's the first social media president.

And this obviously has changed the entire fabric and structure of politics, media, and general social norms.

100%. And content people and influencers whatever these people consider themselves know this. And instead of trying to lower the temp, they keep raising it. And he will respond in kind. I realize that Shinebuam and the US don't have the same goals, but if she can deal with him strategically, why can't others? She didn't write a fukking insane social media post, she lowered the temp. Both of them are eliding critical info in their posts, but they are playing to their supporters.
