No, that transfer of bosses is a big deal, both symbolically and otherwise. I'll explain Don Rafa and then touch on some other Mexico parts
-He served 28 years in Mexican prison, which means he had access to women, alcohol, comforts, but he did the time.
-He was released in 2013, after bribing a judge.
- He got right back in and was running a trafficking organization, he wasn't a high level boss anymore but he moved substantial amounts of meth, cocaine, marijuana, heroin between 2014-2022, when he was caught again. He's named in a superceding indictment in EDNY for the trafficking.

So, they didn't just extradite those prisoners, they transferred them, which allows the death penalty to be applied. It's been longstanding rule that if Mexico extradites to the US, the US cannot sentence them to death. Because a lot of the bosses use the mexican legal system to remain in Mexico, and eventually be released. The US had been requesting these guys for years. The number one person sent over was Jose Inzunza Cannobio aka Guerito, he was arrrested in Culiacan a week ago. He's Ivan Guzman's right hand. Some of these guys are on old indictments, but we are talking like 10 years old, and have been delaying the process a long time.
This raises the stakes on narcos so much, because now, they are saying, if we catch you tomorrow, the US can have you the next day. And this administration is not giving out deals.
Sinaloa is shifting power structures at this exact moment. A winner is going to be decided. The Mexicans have sent 10,000 national gaurd to the border, which is tightening border crosses, as they now have two checkpoints. The new admin basically made a 4 year process happen in about 30 days. It sends a really powerful message. And now, the US has the upper hand. We can just keep applying pressure.
