They have no moral standing because they believe in nothing. These idiots are why Trump is in office with a GOP Congress. They are the reason we have a climate crisis, food shortages, and our general cleptocracy. They walk around smugly believing in nothing and then shame people for having moral convinctions. Truly deplorable people.
@King Kreole care to explain why this is a dap worthy post? @mastermind is too much of a coward to debate his insanity

There's an interesting/worthwhile discussion being had here about voter preference philosophy, the correct way to engage with electoralism in the era of Trump II, and how to engage with the biggest geopolitical crisis going on right now. And then there's a completely uninteresting/worthless discussion being had here about where posters are from, who is a secret white supremacist, and trying to get lick backs from petty beefs last year. I am very much in favor of separating the wheat from the chaff but that would require moderating some posters who are incapable of contributing to the former discussion.
I no longer think any of these discussions are approached with good faith quite frankly, because these discussions aren't about learning, the primary reason for engagement is to win an argument. That takes us immediately into TLR territory.

As such it's hard to find the 5% of wheat when 95% is chaff.

I maintain, at this stage in the game HL is pettier than TLR.

Beefs and arguments are a part of thecoli landscape, but we used to be able to move past that and still keep a thread with 80% wheat.

That has completely turned on its head.

Imagine the level of audacity one must have to blame others for electing Trump when you yourself were too indifferent to vote for the only candidate who could possibly beat him.

And then to go on and blame them for a climate crisis and kleptocracy when you were well aware that Trump would make those issues exponentially worse.
I think the argument is that being myopically focused on the end result instead of the process makes failure more likely. Like a man trying to run out of a burning house but only looking directly at the ground and ending up running further towards the inferno, Liberals whose can only engage with this topic at the level of "VOTE OR DIE" end up voting and dying because they can't do any critical self-evaluation in the aftermath of a loss because they didn't pay attention to the broader system or structure we're operating within. Again, voting alone is not going to deliver you from a slide into right-wing authoritarianism. You have to have something within and around that vote. But Liberals are not trained to see that.

There are these two Liberal fish swimming along and they happen to meet a Leftist fish swimming the other way, who nods at them and says “Morning, boys. How’s the water?” And the two Liberal fish swim on for a bit, and then eventually one of them looks over at the other and goes “What the hell is water?”

I wrote the above post before I saw this one, but I think it kind of answers your question. At least that's why I dapped it. The Liberal fetishization of uncritically voting as the solution to all problems, and rabid hostility towards ideological assessment of broader structures and behaviors creates the conditions for right-wing advances in most areas of our political and social lives.

Yeah I agree with this.

So in your estimation, liberals who vote against authoritarianism are more responsible for it’s rise than leftist who abstain to vote due to liberals not being left “enough”?

Can’t you see how flawed your argument and that logic is?

Elections are won due to raw vote totals not who is more ideologically or more morally pure

Exactly.

@King Kreole , I need you to explain something to me about the supposed progressive wing of the coli who were indifferent to whether or not Trump got elected

  • To your credit, you are at least able to admit that he would be worse for Palestinians than the alternative. Some of the other knuckleheads posting on here are not even able to admit that
  • We knew he would try to slash Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare
  • We knew he would try to slash every type of benefit that helps poor people in America and either keeps them out of, or alleviates, their poverty
  • We knew he would be bad for the environment
  • We knew he would lead a more corrupt and kleptocratic government
  • We knew he would be bad for literally EVERY possible progressive priority that we can think of

This is not abstract, this will hurt real people. People will suffer because of his election.

How could so called progressives be indifferent towards that outcome? I am open-minded enough to your reasoning to help convince me otherwise, but it is hard to shake the conclusion that a lot of the supposed progressives on this site are more concerned about lecturing others and their own progressive purity than how actual outcomes will affect actual people, and that is what disgusts me the most about the accelerationists that are masquerading as progressives. They don't actually care about real people, they are more interested in maintaining the façade of their purity.

Liberals are the reason authoritarianism is on the rise in the first place and is even a viable option on the ballot. This is because they have failed at ruling in a way that deoxygenates our social, economic and political from the conditions authoritarianism needs to grow. On the issues of climate, food, kleptocracy, foreign policy, healthcare, the economy, etc, the failures of the (neo)Liberal order have given space for an alternative ideology to rise and claim to do a better job. This failure is directly related to the inability of the Liberal to assess their recent loss to Trump with any other lens than "THE IDIOT POPULATION NEEDS TO VOTE HARDER FOR US".

A good chef says "I failed to prepare them a meal they enjoyed" rather than "They failed to enjoy this meal I prepared for them", especially when the meal was made with rotten ingredients.

I don’t know how you can say this. The Biden administration had the most destructive Israel/Palestine policy in history, if not the last 60-70 year. Yes, the Biden administration was worse than Nixon, Ford, Reagan, HW, W and Trump part 1.

These policies resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the ethnic cleansing of two million people. That is real harm and pain. If you can’t understand why people would sit out an election rather than vote for the party responsible for so much human suffering, you should probably reexamine your ability to show empathy and moral compass.

It becomes a lot easier to be indifferent when you never really cared about the aforementioned bullet points in the first place you rather just make corporate bought neoliberal political elites suffer (fun fact, they’ll be alright regardless they are in office or not). They’d rather let everyone else do the heavy lifting of trying to keep the country and the vulnerable afloat while complaining from the couch we aren’t doing it right

Hey, moron, Trump's nomination for ambassador for Israel is openly talking about annexing the West Bank, how do you think that will work out for the Palestinians? How do you think Trump obliging Miriam Adelson's policy objectives for Israel is going to work out for Palestinians?

You are one of the main culprits that I was talking about when I say you don't actually care about what happens to real people. Your posts romanticize that suffering, which is easy to do because you are not the one who will have to endure it.

So he would basically be continuing the Biden administration policy without the good cop/bad cop games? Got it.

Gee, I wonder why this appeal to voters lost Kamala Michigan and why so many leftists stayed home this election? :heh:

The only silver lining in Trump winning is watching you smug compromised liberals cry everyday about leftists sitting out the election. Maybe you should have tried to win them over instead of acting like entitled karens. :umad:

I didn’t realize annexation of the West Bank, letting Miriam run wild and turning Gaza into the newest Trump resort property was continuing the Biden administrations plan but atleast we get to :umad: people that won’t be impacted by those actions :blessed:

Not buying it. Progressives, leftists, socialist, communist or whatever your favorite flavor is has the ability to run in the democrat primary and win the nomination. Most liberals are willing to vote for a more left leaning candidate when the alternative is fascism.

If the ideology you support is so popular then those candidates who embody those ideologies should be able to win primaries,

I can promise you liberals wouldn’t stay home if a fascist was running against a progressive in the general even if it meant for example their taxes were going to go up.

Don’t blame liberals, blame your ideology for either running trash candidates or for your ideology not being able to field viable alternative candidates

You’re either going to blame the voter at the primary stage or the general stage. Either way, at least liberals are willing to show up for the fight versus leftist just bytching about it online then staying home when they don’t get their way
