If Scalise doesn't have a path, how would Jordan fare?

I don't fully understand how the votes would work on the Republican side, or how McCarthy got it eventually, after wringing concessions from the Freedom Caacus. Is it not majority?

Democrats have 212 seats and all of them are voting for Jeffries. The Speaker of the House needs 218 votes to win. So essentially, with how many repubs are in the house, it has to be almost 100% unanimous.

got a call for three nines
In a state like Alabama, which has the third-highest maternal death rate and the sixth-highest infant death rate in the United States, some public health experts see birth centers as a potential solution to a gut-wrenching problem: Almost two-thirds of counties in Alabama have little to no local maternity care options. Next month, two labor and delivery units in the Birmingham area are set to close, including the last remaining unit in one of Alabama’s largest counties. Black mothers and infants make up a disproportionate share of bad health outcomes.

tldr
This country has basically outlawed abortion and now is banning a process that has positive birth outcomes for black women
