even the godless liberals and aqua city trehs don't benefit from crashing the economy :yeshrug:

if some fukkin bums have to work 20 hours a week to get medicaid, so be it. if these cuts are so bad, hold republicans accountable in 2024
What about the elderly on Medicaid? Are they required to work 20 hours?

interesting :ehh: so everyone bytching about interest rates should just shut the fukk up, correct?
The US is a sovereign currency issuer, has an extremely large and powerful military, has nukes, borrows at extremely attractive interest rates and in its own currency, and also the dollar is the global reserve currency. National debt can be a major and bad issue for countries that do not have these attributes of course but it's nothing to worry about for the US at this time.

"democrats bullshyt spending" lmao. He's spent less than Trump. The debt ceiling should not be negotiated, parties shouldn't be able to hold the economy hostage. Given that the financial powers that be won't sit back and allow an economic implosion, there's no downside to forcing republican's hands by refusing to negotiate. They have a small majority in the House that can be overcome.

The downside to not negotiating is that regardless of fairness, most Americans blame the state of the economy on the President. If the economy is in an economic downturn come voting time 2024, no amount of juelizing by Biden will convince a majority of Americans that the Republicans deserve the most blame.

Day in day out, most Americans don't seem to pay close, if any, attention to what's going on in Washington.

The IRS change is meaningless. They aren't building aircraft carriers, they're...modernizing and staffing an existing government agency. You can update your computers to Windows 10, hire call center staff, and pay tax accountants with a lot less than the 60B they'll have now.

This reminds me of the Boehner "deals" he'd strike with Obama, where the spending cuts are largely ceremonial and almost seem deliberately designed to piss off conservatives. Boehner had balls and managed to keep his people in line for a few years. I don't see how McCarthy can keep his Speakership or get this passed, given the reaction the deal is garnering on the right. We're prob a day or two away from Trump declaring it to be a terrible deal, too.
