Yeah he was but the problem.was friedgen didn't want to step down. I'm not sure but I get the feeling he didn't want to step on friedgens toes by taing the job after the fired him. Either that or he might have felt a certain type of way that they just weren't going to hand him the job and he would have to interview for it idk.

Dudes a great coach tho, look what he did for danny obrien before he left and now look at danny, I always felt danny :scusthov: should have followed his ass to vandy.

Damn, this has me thinking. Will anyone give the Fridge a chance to coach again? Based off the success at Maryland, he deserves at least one more gig. I remember dude was butt hurt with Maryland. He was on the radio talking about going to bars to root against the Terps when they played lol.

Yeah dude is pissed off at them. I mean he did win ACC coach of the year in 2010 and got canned shortly after. He is a hell of a coach though.

A terrible coach who couldn't recruit or run a clean program. Then he started getting destroyed on the field, getting blown out in rivalry games vs. UGA & Bama and it's not a surprise what happened.

Auburn should get a decent coach, but who of decent quality would even want this headache? Meddlesome boosters, little brother to Bama...probably the WORST of the SEC openings right now

All this is true, however, if I am a top tier coach I would look at Auburn holistically. Believe it or not, Auburn is an all time top 20 college football program easily. The last coach prior to Chizik was there 10 years and the one before that was there damn near 20.

The resources are their and money is not an issue and honestly, Auburn should have been playing for its 4th championship in 2010. We all know CFB is mostly politics and that's why they did not play in 2004 and also should have won in 83, but Schnellenberger had opened up the petty cash fund down in Miami.

You can win at Auburn, and win big and make a lot of paper, but it is definitely a tough job that is high risk, high reward.

I would take the Tennessee job before Auburn. Tennessee is the number one school in that state easily and they have unlimited resources.

I would but Auburn over UTK strictly on recruiting which is a problem to some degree at UTK>

Chizik can recruit his ass off, he couldn't develop or coach for sh*t. Their OC was the best coach till he left for a Sun Belt school.

Actually chizik didnt recruit shyt... That was trooper taylor and curtis luper that did all that big time recruiting. After taylor and luper got taken off of recruitin, auburn didnt fet a single recruit... Not one.

As far as a coach being at auburn for 20years that's not true. Before chizik tubbs was there for 9 years then oliver for an interim stint then bowden for 5 years then dye for 11years. Truthfully as much as I love auburn, every coach since dye has been run off. We've been successful but our track record is not the greatest with head coaches, but people forget that auburn was outperforming bama for a good period, nearly 20years before saban came. They were eatin good off of past glory.
