There's dozens and dozens of independent filmmakers that don't have to rely on rape scenes and cum shots to make well regarded works.
I mean...a film like Shame can tackle sex in a way that's brutally honest and true without resorting to the cheap bullshyt that characterises Noe's films. I'm not saying he isn't a unique, talented film maker but a lot of this stuff adds up to style over substance. I'm not really sure he has much to actually say as a film maker. Nice lighting tho.

Doesn't hit the US until late this year I think.
I got lucky as fukk. I found out my local snobby arthouse theater wasn't picking it up and if they don't pick up some shyt like this, odds are I'd have to cross half the country to see it. Then by a stroke of complete luck (or fate, it must be fate) the quasi-arthouse/mainstream theater ended up picking it up even though they'd normally never pick up something as arthouse as this unless a big name was attached to it. shyt had me like

I remember when I went to see Enter The Void on opening night there were like seven other people in the theater. Three of them were uppity liberals of whom I overheard one, in advance of the movie, tell the others that the movie was about a person undergoing a spiritual journey inspired by Tibetan Buddhism. Which is relatively accurate except she told it like it was going to be a Julia Roberts inspirational movie and not a movie by the man who made Irréversible. So roughly halfway through there were only four other people left.

Because it's part of the 'art'. It's kind of funny how Blurred Lines stirred up that discussion when there have been hundreds of music videos featuring nudity on Youtube for years.Nearly every late 90s early 00s trance/edm song had an 'uncensored' version with naked titties and every single one of them is on Youtube.
and film's such as a Serbian film (uncut), salo (Italian uncut print) and thsoe other euro vomit/necrophiliac indie pics were all up on ytube..
