The KGB doesn't exist anymore.

And what I posted was just my read of the situation. Syria is an information war. You have to read both sides of propoganda on the opposition and regime sides.

Could Assad regime have done it? Sure, but lets have independent investigators go to the sites of the attacks, take samples, etc like they did in East Ghouta in 2013 and determine if the regime's stockpiles are in fact all gone as confirmed in 2014 or how much is left (perhaps 10-20%?).

We also can't ignore that rebel groups have chlorine (its everywhere in Syria because of water purification, etc). I'm not making that up, you can research it online.
its most probably a faction with high resources. From the evidence like the intense muscle spasms, it doesn't look like chlorine gas, it looks like sarin.this is much more difficult to make, store and degrades quickly. whether thats assad who knows, but its not band of shepherds.

Yeah it looked like a nerve agent. Not sure its sarin since its odorless and go through skin... the clinics and responders mentioned a smell.

Shid is so terrible :mjcry:

Senior Defense Department officials are developing options for a military strike in response to the Syrian government’s chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of civilians on Tuesday, officials said on Thursday.

The top-level consultations about military options involve Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as military officers at the United States Central Command.

Mr. Mattis is traveling to Florida, where he is expected to discuss the crisis in Syria with President Trump. Officials said no decisions had been made.

American intelligence has established with high confidence that a Syrian government aircraft carried out the attack, a senior American official said.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were discussing classified intelligence and planning.

This is all sad and stuff.

But stay the fukk out of Syria.
Agreed. The intended result of this attack has to have been to get America bogged down in another disaster.
I cant imagine why we would oblige.

Putin is up to something.

Elaborate. If this war happens, and I can't express how much I don't want it to, Putin's guy Assad will be ousted/killed. What is "up to" that can stop that?

There won't be war, I hope not

The US and UK have limited options. There won't be a UNSC resolution to intervene and oust Assad because Russa/China will veto.

Striking regime targets in the air is risky because the Syrian Air Defenses are way more advanced than Libya/Iraq and they are near populated areas of Damascus, Latakia, Tartus, etc. Russian personnel are also on those sites. So, would the US want to inflict casualties on them?

Striking regime positions or damaging an military airport may happen. But again, if you strike a regime position esp if they're engaging with Al-Qaeda type groups, it defeats the purpose of "fighting terrorist groups".

Also, the US Air Force bombed and killed 100 Syrian soldiers in Deir Ezzor in September. This actually helped ISIS indirectly.

If all we want to do is hit targets in Syria we don't have to use our air force.
