Obama was smart not to intervene in Syria because he saw the mess that Libya after they got rid of Kaddafy. Plus there was no viable replacement of Assad. The rebels have fought each other for years. Plus the Syrian civil is ver very complex. You have the Alawites,Christians and Druze who support Assad because they fear being genocided by the sunni opposition which is filled with Islamist or jihadist elements who want to implement sharia law. We would trade one tyranny over another one. Secondly, there are so many factions that Syria exist in name only. The Kurds only care about making their own Kurdistan. And add Russia and Iran and Hezbollah in the mix it gets even messier. Obama was right not to get too involved in Syria.
