What happens is liberals carelessly present the idea as "raising the minimum wage wont hurt jobs" when what they actually mean is, "a small increase to the min wage, wont hurt jobs".

Either way the CBO report(which @BarNone shared) confirms jobs will be lost, so i'm not sure what there is to debate on that point.... unless we are throwing the CBO in the bushes :mjpls:

YES! YES! YES! Jobs will be lost. YES, up to a million people MAY lose their jobs. But 16 million people will be making more money, which means more money to spend, which means more money for the economy! It's like trickle down economics in reverse.

Think about it seriously. You would rather condemn everyone to a life of low wages rather increase income for 16 million people. Even if they lose their jobs they can go out there and get another one making 10.10 or whatever.

No min wage jobs aren't supposed to be career paths and only stepping stones, but that doesn't mean the people stuck working these jobs for whatever reason need to be stepped on.

That does sound retarded :ehh:
It probably is... and i'm fine with that. I'll take the "L" on that every time.

What surprising is that many positions held by "the left" center on whats "fair" and/or "right". I dont see how this falls into either... Its simply screwing over the minority for the benefit of the majority.

This ignores the fact that whenever someone brings up raising the minimum wage they have a specific number in mind or plan on meeting at a number well below what productivity would require. This has been proven time and again. You're setting up this false scenario for the sake of arguing uncontested nuances. The fact that some jobs may be lost is never contested when talking about large increases to the minimum wage. It is the justifications that businesses use. Even when we brought up McDonalds I demonstrated how they could offset their supposed "losses" by like a 40 cent increase in prices. Furthermore, Republicans lose this argument by voting against the American Jobs Act which would have kept or put Americans back to work (and it was innocuous as well).

But by relying on this CBO report Republicans are admitting that the government can indeed effect the economy when for years they tried to say that the government has no effect and that the market dictates everything. If these jobs are so disposable, why didn't the highly efficient market rid itself of them before....a 2 to 4 dollar wage increase isn't exactly going to make or break most businesses.

I was simply clarifying the difference between what is said and what is meant.

Whats interesting is the CBO report confirmed that even a slight boost in min raise like $1 would result in some job less... so is the left wrong or the CBO?:mjpls:
