I remember watching that in theaters when I was 17 or so, with my two boys I say almost every movie with, and I remember them liking it, and I kinda hated it…After months of anticipation, EW, Access, every Hollywood news outlet had been going on about the problems between the Weinsteins and Miramax, Scorcese and the Weinsteins, the length, the violence….It had all the hype, and I wasn't impressed, yes there were cool scenes, but the story is very traditional, and drags heavily, it's overlong, underwritten costume drama, with a great subject matter that was mostly lost in adaptation.

I think it definetly could've been better considering who was involved. Even tho I still like the movie and watched it multiple times, think about what the movie would be like if DDL wasnt in it. Dude basicallly IS the movie. Leo wasn't as good back then as now esp with his accent slipping all the time, Diaz I cant take serious enough for a role like this. Story was ehhh pretty by the numbers. DDL had to go super sayian to turn a below average movie into a good/great one :whew:
