Yo I've always wondered...

I know people that have worked there and a lot of Gamestop managers will let employees open a game and bring it home.

When they bring it back in, they still sell it as new and just re-seal it with a clear plastic sticker.

The fact that this sticker is even an item in stock means Gamestop is aware of the practice.

Is this illegal? Grounds for a class action lawsuit? Why would they think they can break the seal and re-sell it when their own policies of return won't let you break the seal?

This is fukked up :lupe:

PS I got 38.50 from Wal Mart for AC4 on trade in, phluck GameStop :smugdraper:

It's true. I know a few cats that used to work there. That non-official plastic. Lol
I also know this one chick that works at one that says that she does it all the time.

In any other business those open games should be sold as open box. At gamestop they want to charge you full price for a game that they are sealing in front of you.

They try to tell you it's because they need a display box...... So why did my son bring up a copy of Sonic Lost World from the rack and the bird at the counter still bring me an open copy out of drawer? We went across the street to best buy and just got it there instead.

That's why I only buy used, on the release date, or go on Amazon (never had a problem with any games bought online :win:). Unless there's visible cracks on the disc, they play just as well.

only new if in sealed original plastic..they have the resealing machine in the stockrooms also...When they open new games they put it on shelves and this term is called "gutting". Once all the new sealed ones are sold they can get the guts from the draws behind register and put it in the original case and either reseal totally or just use a clear plastic circular seal. The workers do take it home all the time, especially when new stock comes in and there is a street date they play games early...

How can you tell when a game is not new? How do you nkow when they're using store seals? We should write a letter to Gamestop's corporate office. Im not having this.

But all games have the sticky plastic seal on the right hand side, after the initial plastic wrap. If this is gone, that's a dead giveaway if it's been re-shrinkwrapped or not, as those things aren't easy to put back on without it looking completely botched.
