Man, that term actually goes back to the Atari 2600 console when playing 'Combat'. Combat was basically a military-themed player-vs.-player game where you drove a tank or piloted a jet. 'Cheesing' came about due to a few boards you could play on where you would get your opponent in a spot and continually hit them with rounds until you won without them getting a chance to shoot back.

This game was piff. Remember when you could halfway insert the combat cart and be invincible and touch walls without dying.

I live in the United States
as far as i remember. ...playing street fighter and moral kombat in the arcades....if u cheasin with a character u a punk with no real gaming skills. ....u found that one move and u just butt fukk it to death. ..:shaq2:.....but where did the term come from and do u still use it today?

Well I didn't peep any of the previous replies, but I can assure you most of them was incorrect.
You see, we are in the day n age of thee bytch nikka :hula:

Yes, Streetfighter II was the first time nikkaz used the term cheese.
I'm lying, the term was used before then. I can remember saying that during Madden or something. Not really sure now, I smoked a 100,000 J's since then
But the earliest I can clearly remember is SFII

Now what is a cheeze? Its when a person does something that is not in the spirit of the sport to gain an advantage.
One form of cheese is to spam fireballs, especially against a player who has no range. Ryu vs Zangief/E.Honda are perfect examples. Today some lame fukk will say "there is no such thing as cheeze, you just gotta learn how to not let that happen"
And they say that because they see a video of some Jackie Chan lookin nikka doin the impossible, then they look at YOU and be like "see, it can be done"

:rudy:

nikka, there's fireball cheese. There's corner cheeze. There's other forms too
Balrog is all about that cheeze, but real SF'ers recognize his cheeze and allow it. Because Balrog couldn't land a single hit without cheezin.

Also, the earlier SF games didnt have the balancing the later games have
They added moves specifically so people could get out of certain unblockable cheezing situations. Then some lames say the problem was fixed.

THE PROBLEM CAN NEVER BE FIXED, IT WAS JUST REMEDIED. There's a difference.
Becaused Cheezing is something a person does, so being able to do a move out of it doesn't mean the person doesn't til this day initiate cheeze
You have to have a PHD in the game your playing to learn all the counters to counters, and I would of learned all that shyt back in the Killer Instinct days
Now, I learn about shyt that matters :manny:

No. A "newbie" is a new person. A "noob" is someone that sucks or intentionally plays cheap. The two ain't the same.

That's why shyt like grenade launchers in games like "COD" is called "noob tubes". It takes no skill to win with it. Likewise repeating the same move over and over takes no skill. Like I said noob = cheesing. Different era.

And cheesing is 90s slang. If you were in the arcades back then people used it all the time. It fell out of circulation so yeah nowadays people just say you are lame, or a noob.

Used to hate that type of shyt, Mortal Kombat had the throw glitch that fakkits that never knew how to play would always use.

I remember in one of the gaming magazines, they held one of the first Street Fighter 2 tournaments and some dude w/ Dhalsim pinned people down w/ the fireball and long kick. Fisticuffs would have proceeded at that point.

Just played my first NBA 2k13 cheeser. Would only shoot 3s. I beat him easily. It was annoying though. I just started cheesing him back with Aaron brooks :russ: dropped like 27 with him

Personally I don't see why people get upset over "cheesing". Especially in fighting games, lol its a fight! the point is to get the W no matter how you get it.

 @ yall fighting in real life telling the nikka kicking your ass to stop jabbing because its not fair :shaq2:
