3rd parties know that if their games dont get a gamepass offer its dead on that platform, not great for you. Not great for microsoft knowing they gotta buy every 3rd party game now also
Microsoft's primary concern is building out that platform not 3rd party games. You don't create a service like Game Pass not intending to set up a walled garden. The content that exist outside that walled garden is whatever.

It's like how Netflix primary concern isn't licensing content from other providers but making their own content.

You're missing the bigger picture because you want to approach everything from Sony's business model. Their goal is to build out a service that exist beyond hardware dependency. Their goal would be to get Game Pass available to people who don't own Xbox hardware to a point where they account for more subs than hardware owners.

S why even report on gamepass increasing game sales if that’s not the goal? I’m going based on what they say, not Sony.

Imagine as a company getting a bag ahead of time for a trash game, then getting a bag for physical and digital sales too.

They could have very well still made more money with the gamepass deal, and for sure more people are going to play it in the long run because of gamepass.

The only way they make my money on Xbox is if microsoft buys copies with gamepass. It’s like music companies buying their own artists albums

Good for them for getting paid for their work, but Microsoft shouldn't be known for allowing trash games on their platform

:gucci:

No bruh that's not how it works at all, it's not even a valid comparisons.

In most cases it's like a artist getting an Advance but better. Microsoft gives them say 200,000 thousand for there game to launch on gamepass and for how long, the company then looks at how much they traditionally sale on xbox or if xbox is a ecosystem they want to try to break into or if it's good for the over all popularity and health of a game ( online/crossplay) They take the bag they've made plus get the sales from physical and digital sales, addon's and DLC.

Microsoft doesn't own the "masters" of the game or company.

Are you really asking why a company is reporting news that frames them in a better light? When does a corporation not do that? If you aren't building up what they're trying to do then they don't care. You don't make a service like Game Pass without the understanding that your customer base won't gather around it. In cases where the title is smaller that gets more eyes and support for it. In cases where the title has microtransactions you can sell those. No third party is putting huge AAA established franchises on the service.

At the end of it all Microsoft has a goal of getting as many subscribers to that service as possible and maintaining them. If third parties put out games on Xbox and sell enough for the publisher to justify the port that's nice and if not wasn't really the priority.
