How about y'all enjoy the story and don't worry about it?
Its a spoiler thread my guy. I've either read the shyt 5 years ago trying to learn about some of the world building shyt surrounding the original show or someone that read the books told me about it when I asked years ago at work. Like I said earlier, prequels, at least for me, are hard to stay "spoiler" free when a lot of the story is given away in throwaway history lessons in the show its supposed to proceed and you do further research on an interesting world when you had no idea they'd make a prequel show.

Aegon II dies alone, mad and bitter.

The Greens won the battle but, lost the war. Aegon II's wife and all of his kids die. His brother Aemond dies. Rhaenyra would have lived to see the end of the war but, she was betrayed when she went to Dragonstone, not realizing Aegon II was there and he fed her to his dragon. He then tries to make Aegon III (Rhaenyra's son) his hostage back in King's Landing. But it doesn't really matter. He's eventually surrounded just like the Mad King was. All of Rhaenyra's forces (The Vale, Riverlands, Starkmen....sounds familiar :heh:) end up storming King's Landing with Cregan Stark leading the charge. Can't wait for him to show up :ohlawd: But while Cregan was able to hold everyone to justice, Aegon II did not survive long enough to meet him. He was poisoned in his carriage. The rumor is one of his men poisoned his drink because they knew the Greens had lost the war and were hoping for leniency from the Blacks (Rhaenyra's army). Cregan didn't like that shyt because he wanted to kill Aegon II straight up, not have him poisoned. Afterwards, Aegon III, Rhaenyra's son becomes King.

"I am no maester to quote history at you, Your Grace. Swords have been my life, not books. But every child knows that the Targaryens have always danced too close to madness. Your father was not the first. King Jaehaerys once told me that madness and greatness are two sides of the same coin. Every time a new Targaryen is born, he said, the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land" - Barristan Selmy to Daenerys Targaryen

the significant majority of targs arent crazy, the list is actually quite small, this quote by selmy was always quite dumb and didnt hold up to scrutiny

Criston is a member of House Cole, a minor House of the Dornish Marches in service to House Dondarrion. His father is the steward at Blackhaven. Criston is of Dornish descent, but it is unclear on which side of his family.

Your source is the show, not sure why they changed his background, serves no real purpose.

But even then, he's only partially dornish (in the show).

He's still more stormlander than dornish though blood. Was born and raised in the stormlands (the dornish marshes are in the stormlands.) and fought against dorne.

AKA, the bruh aint dornish

The book HOTD is adapted from is written like a historical account

No spoilers

Much different from ASOIAF. The writers had a lot too work with . By that, I mean you had actual character interactions and arcs

HOTD must be a tough one to adapt. A lot of grey area that has too be filled in. If that makes any sense…
